• Charsadda chappal: hand stitched in Charsadda, the district that supplies most of the handmade chappals sold in Pakistan.
• Norozi chappal: the Quetta build from Balochistan, on a single or double tyre sole for rough ground.
• Kaptaan chappal: the wide strap Peshawar build also called the Imran Khan chappal, including the 804.
• Zalmi chappal: the smart, enclosed shape with overlapping side panels and a side buckle.
• Panjedar chappal: five stitched leather straps and an open toe; the name comes from panj, meaning five.
• Zardari chappal: a smooth covered front and a buckled heel strap, named after Asif Ali Zardari.
• Classic Gol T, T-shape and Takidar: the round toe and bar shapes most men picture when they say chappal.

These are the prices on this site today. Every pair is hand stitched, so the price follows the leather, the sole and the hours in the upper, not the label.

Sizes: UK 6 to 12, and custom pairs

Khyber Wear sizes are UK sizes, the system used in Pakistan. Measure your foot from heel to longest toe and order by that measurement rather than by the size you wear in trainers, because a hand stitched upper fits closer. If your size is not listed, we make custom pairs to your measurement.

Leather: cow, suede, or what you ask for

The default upper is cow leather, chosen for grain strength and because it softens with wear instead of cracking. Selected models use suede for a matte finish, and any other leather can be requested on a custom order.

Original leather creases when you bend it and smells of leather, not plastic. Rexine stays flat, shines evenly and splits at the strap after a season. Turn the strap over before you buy, wherever you buy: on a real pair the underside is rough leather, not painted.

Soles: tyre, Vibram, Gogo zero and double sole

The tyre sole is cut and bonded by hand, which is why it grips where a moulded sole slides. A worn sole does not end the chappal: we resole our own pairs, so a good upper carries on for years.

Colours and designs

Black, brown, dark brown, mustard, burgundy, camel and imli run across the styles, with double shade uppers on selected models. New designs arrive through the year, and the heaviest run is before Eid, when the Gol T and Takidar shapes move fastest.

For Eid, weddings and daily wear

For Eid and mehndi, the Gol T and Takidar shapes in mustard, imli or double shade are the usual pick. For a walima or a formal evening, black or dark brown on a Gogo zero sole sits better under a shalwar kameez, and the covered front Zardari keeps the look tidy. For daily wear and rough ground, a double tyre sole Norozi handles it.

Who makes your chappal

Khyber Wear is based in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the district that gives the Charsadda chappal its name. The craft behind these pairs has been carried down through generations of the same families for over a hundred years, and the brand was founded by Atif Khan and Hassan Daud to put that work in front of buyers outside the bazaar. Every pair is cut, stitched, pressed and finished by hand in our own workshop, not bought in and relabelled.

Delivery, cash on delivery and resoling

Khyber Wear delivers by courier across Pakistan, with cash on delivery available, and ships from Charsadda and Peshawar where the chappals are made. When a sole finally wears through, send the pair back and we resole it rather than replacing it.

Also called Kheri, Peshawari sandal and chapal

Kheri is the local name for the same footwear across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Peshawari sandal is what buyers outside the region often search for. The spellings peshawri, peshwari, pishawri and chapal all mean the same pair. Norozi is also written narozi, nirozi and nerozi kheri, and Kaptaan is often written kaptan.

Charsadda khaddar, shawls and mufflers

Beyond footwear, Khyber Wear weaves and sells Charsadda khaddar by the suit length, in cotton and in wool, at Rs 3,899 a suit. Winter wear sits beside it: men’s shawls in 48, 48/2 and 72 wool counts from Rs 3,799, wool mufflers in Angora and double wool from Rs 2,500, and women’s shawls in pashmina and embroidered wool.

Yes. Kheri is the local name for the same footwear. Kaptaan, Norozi, Charsadda, Zalmi, Panjedar and Zardari are styles inside that family, each with a different upper, sole or origin.

Can the sole be replaced?

Yes. We resole our own pairs, so a worn tyre sole does not end the chappal.

Which sole lasts longest?

The double tyre sole. It is heavier and raised, grips gravel and mud, and outlasts a single sole. A Vibram sole cushions more and grips wet ground, and a Gogo zero sole is the flattest and most formal.
